Gatto Pope and Walwick CFS Tax New Version Installs

Please use this WI to install a new version of CFS Tax Software / CFS Payroll System (occurs annually) and import the previous year/version’s data. You can also use this WI to find where the software is hosted and shared from on the network.

  1. Software can be installed during business hours as the application does not require a reboot.
  2. IMPORTANT: New versions are installed locally on GPWAPPS and a Public Desktop Shortcut is created for the listed sessions hosts.
  • New Versions are installed on GPWAPPS c:\CFSLib

  • Versions are shared from here: \\gpwapps\C\CFSLib

  1. IMPORTANT: Remove current Public Desktop Shortcut and add new year’s version on the following session hosts
  • GPWRDSSH3

  • GPWRDSSH4

  • GPWRDSSH5

  • GPWRDSSH8

  • GPWRDSSH9

  • Testing can be done on GPWRDSSH-GOLD

  • 1Password > Websites > CFS Tax Software (For downloading the software)

  • Client will email centrexIT when there is a new version available

  • Client will need to provide the new license key (Example below)




  1. Follow the link provided in the request (user usually forwards the email to intake, example below)


  1. Fill out requested information in the notes of the CFS Tax Software account (Reference Requirements)


  1. Find the “Payroll System” download for the requested year and click Download


  1. Login to GPWAPPS via Screenconnect or NCentral and download and install the app locally and run installer as Admin

  3. Next
  4. Fill out Firm Information (info is in the notes of CFS Tax Tools in 1Password, reference Requirements Section)

  2. IMPORTANT: Installation destination should be C:\CFSLIb (Reference Completion Criteria)
  3. IMPORTANT: If you get a pop-up that the default path is -not- the default click Yes!

  2. After install click OK to confirm license information


  1. Click Add User, name it cIT (this will let you open the software to import last year’s data)


  1. Click No on any pop-up you get
  2. Click Utilities > Import 20XX Clients/Payees/Preparers/Labels…


  1. Make sure Import From: is from the previous year’s data directory


  1. Click Select All
  2. Click Finish
  3. Click Yes
  4. Take a screenshot of the Import Results and share with client.


  1. Click Yes to allow automatic updates


  1. Remove current Public Desktop Shortcut and add new year’s version on the following session hosts

  1. Share any errors or notifications and confirm with end-user that they can successfully test the new version.
