Relationships are used in CMDB to link an item (device, software, VPN, and so on), with other elements such as other devices, the location the device is at, vendor and other management information, any Knowledge Base articles that provide information concerning the item, failover set-up, RFCs, and other pertinent information. These relationships can be created with the Relationship Editor tool, found at the bottom of the item form. Please note that different categories will contain different options to select from in the tool.

1. In CMDB, navigate to the category that the device to be worked on is located under. Select the device from the list on the page that opens.

2. In the device form, select the Relationship Editor button at the bottom of the form.
