Steps to reset a user’s SAMBA password to access datacentrix1’s fileshare


Service Desk


When requested to reset the password a user uses to login to datacentrix1’s shared SAMBA drives.

  1. Approval from client POC or vITM
  2. Resetting credentials and confirming access is restored

  • ITSM Ticket/Request

  • Access to ADVM-MGMT or VM you can use Putty on
  • 1Password > All Linux Server Root Account
  • datacentrix1 IP
  • User’s username for datacentrix1 file share access

  1. Run Putty on ADVM-MGMT or chosen VM
  2. Connect to datacentrix1 IP
  3. Login with 1Pass credentials
  4. IMPORTANT: Run following command (replace user1 with user’s actual username)
    • sudo smbpasswd user1
